Matthew Howe

Matthew Howe is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Matthew Howe is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He studied philosophy under the tutelage of Professor Phil Hart at PSU, focusing on two of his great loves: the lives and works of Friedrich Nietzsche and Søren Kierkegaard. His undergraduate psychology degree interests were in behavioral neuroscience, psychological disorders, and research design. He then earned degrees at Rivier University and Herzing University. While in NP school, Matthew was privileged to train under Dr. Vladmir Jelnov, MD, who greatly influenced his approach as a diagnostician and psychopharmacologist.

His work in inpatient and outpatient community mental health further led him to a holistic viewpoint of patient care, and his heart remains in community mental health care. He worked as Program Director of a residential addiction treatment center for fourteen years and currently specializes in treating mood disorders, anxiety, and PTSD. Matthew is passionate about continuing education and has earned multiple advanced certifications in psychopharmacology and various psychotherapeutic treatment modalities, as well as pursuing graduate work in Biomedical Neuroscience (MSc). He enjoys spending time with his wife and children, in addition to practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, scuba diving, trail running, and spending time in his beloved “second home” of Prague, Czech Republic.
